The Edinburgh Bookshop
The Edinburgh Bookshop in Bruntsfield is a leading independent bookshop in Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Bookshop History
Founded in 2008 at Holy Corner, it became a community hub, drawing readers of all ages with its curated selection of fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books.
The shop hosts regular author events, storytimes, and literary gatherings.
As its popularity continued to rise, the shop soon faced increased demand for a larger location.
Responding to this growing interest, the shop relocated in 2024 to 176 Bruntsfield Place, near the birthplace of Scottish novelist Muriel Spark, following a successful crowdfunding campaign.
This move not only allowed the business to grow but also ensured it maintained its relaxed atmosphere.
Today, thanks to its new space, the shop features a bright, inviting area for browsing and conversation. A dedicated children’s room provides books, toys, and seating for young readers.
The main shop hosts events and relaxed reading and features a wide range of selected titles.
Soft seating and open event areas foster an inclusive cultural hub.
With author events, reading groups, and family activities, it celebrates Edinburgh’s literary heritage and offers a welcoming space for book lovers.
More than a retailer, The Edinburgh Bookshop is part of the community.
